About NSTS:

Student and Youth tourism is the fastest growing sector of international tourism, mainly thanks to the vast organised world-wide network of dedicated travel offices that cooperate together since 1949 within the World Youth, Student and Educational Travel Confederation (WYSE Travel Confederation).

Malta is no exception. The University Student Representative Council (SRC/KSU) initiated student travel in 1954 when it constituted the Maltese Student Travel Department (MSTD) which today grew into NSTS as a formidable, professional Organisation under the auspices of the National Student Travel Foundation (Malta) (NSTF), itself not-for-profit non-governmental organisation (NGO).

In addition to fostering educational, cultural and social travel, NSTF organises educational projects for self-development in European Affairs, Science and Innovation, provides student travel Bursaries and sponsors the restoration of Malta’s prestigious works of art.

In executing NSTF’s mission in travel for local students and youth, NSTS operates a strong programme of Travel Experiences for both individual and groups of students, school children and youths from diverse interest movements.

These include Experiences themed on one’s studies, special interest, sports, leisure orientation, nature and environment inclinations, intercultural relations and popular cultural attractions, work-abroad and internship objectives etc. that are all directed to foster international understanding and the development of the young personality.

A key feature to this international programme are the lifestyle identity cards that create a world-wide bonding among students and youth and facilitate cultural and personal exchanges while they provide concessionary and advantageous purchasing from sponsoring travel, cultural, entertainment and retail establishments.

These are the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) for full-time registered students, the European Youth Card / Karta Zghazagh for all young persons under 30 years of age and the International Teacher / Professor Identity Card (ITIC) for full-time persons in education.

NSTS fulfils the NSTF mission within Malta primarily through its educational travel programmes that include the most popular English language courses for non-native speakers where NSTS carved a unique niche of academic excellence over its 45 years of successful teaching, as well as the more recently introduced pre-bachelor’s university foundation course, and the senior high school and high school academic years.

Support services feature dedicated residential and hostel accommodation for students and the under thirty-fives for stays that range from one day to one year, management of a private beach club with an array of water sports; intercultural activities and a leisure hangout, visits to a variety of historically intriguing sites and popular cultural events; the provision of sports training facilities and organisation of international tournaments in association with local counterpart clubs; the handling of international meetings and conferences and a 24/7 customer care emergency service that makes all NSTS young visitors feel comfortable and relaxed in all they do.

In other words, under the auspices of an NGO, NSTS supports student and youth intercultural exchanges and travel programmes for self-advancement by providing a myriad of educational, cultural, leisure and social tourism opportunities internationally and in Malta, that are managed by a sizeable team of committed young professionals.

The foundation will be organising various study trips abroad to make its members more aware of the Leader Programme and increase their knowledge regarding Local Action Groups.

The second group will be heading to Bari on the 20th of October. A group of 10 active members will be attending to various seminars and workshops held in the Puglia region.

The group will stay in Bari for 7 days where the members will have the opportunity to visit various agritourism sites, enjoy the beauties of the Gargano and view the works of the already established Gal Meridaunia.
