Gudja Locality Meeting - 10/10/09

On the 10th of October another meeting was held in the locality of Gudja. The following is a list of ideas proposed by those present to the meeting:

§         Breakfast for Kids who arrive early at School

§         Homework Course after School Hours

§         Facilitate access to Places of Interest for Elderly

§         Band School

§         Outdoor Gym

§         Embellishment of Housing Estate Area

§         Development of PL Hall to be used for Educational Purposes

§         Multi Purpose Hall

§         After School Courses

§         Child Care Centre

§         Creation of a Civic Centre

§         Elderly Day Centre

§         Youth Exchanges

§         Development of Playgrounds

§         Create a Heritage Trail including Local Niches

§         Restoration of Unique Balconies

Kirkop Locality Meeting - 08/10/09

Kirkop was the host of the fourth locality meeting. Silvio Schembri gave an overview of the Leader Programme and presented the Foundation Gal Xlokk and its founder members. After the presentation the following proposals were submitted:

§         Re- Opening of the Traditional “Ghajn ta’ l-Ilma”

§         Photo Voltaic Panels in Schools

§         A Local Calendar Event

§         War Shelter Restoration and Reopening

§         Town Houses Developed as Tourist Attractions

§         Revival of Old Trades and Places Related to Trade

§         Quarry with Good Water Supplies which could supply for Irrigation

§         Facility for the School to Pump Water from an unused Well

§         Drama Courses for all the Gal Xlokk Region

§         Good Friday Pageant

§         Christmas Pageant

Ghaxaq Locality Meeting - 06/10/09

The third information meeting was held in the locality of Ghaxaq. A good number of residents and representatives of local organizations attended to this event. The following are the proposals suggested by those present:


§         Picnic Area in the Ghaxaq area
§         Restoration of the Military Gun Post
§         Embellishment of the Ghaxaq Valley
§         Elderly Day Centre
§         Development of St Thomas Bay
§         Recycling of Farms’ Waste

Xghajra Locality Meeting - 02/10/09

The second locality meeting was held in the small locality of Xghajra. However there was a good participation from the locals and the following is a list of proposals shared by the residents:


§         Water Enhancement Facility proposed by Mr. Joseph Buttigieg
§         Embellishment Projects around sound polluting structures in the locality proposed by Mr. Robert Cini
§         The proposal of BIO FUEL production
§         A campsite in the XLOKK region
§         Development of the Xghajra Coast into a Sandy Beach
§         Development of the Xghajra Heritage Trail

Birzebbugia Locality Meeting - 01/10/09

As part of the consultation process, various locality meetings are being held in each of the members' localities. The first of this series of meetings was held in Birzebbugia where there was a really good participation from the general public and organizations.

Web-Site Launch - Friday 9th October 2009 at 6pm

The official web-site of the Foundation GAL XLOKK will be launched next Friday 9th October at 6pm from the Qormi Local Council. The site bringing the address www.galxlokk.com will give a good idea of what the foundation is, what the Leader Programme consists of and who are the members of the Foundation.
